I'm getting ready to paint... I need to start with the rust under the grill in front of the windshield. I went to lool how to remove the grill like my other cars, and wow, its part of the body!
Does anybody have any stories or ideas about how you fixed rust down there??? Maybe I'll have to cut the grill out to address the rust...ugh. I cant see any other way.

That whole panel has 120+ spot welds ... a lot of work to get it out.

Some guys have gotten rid of the vents completely.... cut the area out and weld sheet metal in there. That area serves as the fresh air intake for the car when you are not set on max AC. If you close that area off, the system can still get a smaller amount of air from the drains at the sides of the cowl.

Welding that all shut also helps prevent cowl leaks.

With the rain we have here in FL, that is a popular mod. The CAMEO.com website has a tech article, but for some odd reason, just that page there is not linking currently.

If you search here, some members have done it, too. I think Frank or Dennis has that detailed somewhere.

    Hello Captain:
Just noticed the apparent problem on my website .. strange , everything else works great but " I " can't pull the Cowl Repair segment up either .. I'am in touch with the person who manages my site and hope to have this corrected soon..There is a lot of useful information and I've done SIX cars with this procedure .. It is effective and it works, and there is No Drilling out spot welds.. Hope this helps.

Just got the news that the segment is UP now . I'm also adding to this
bit with a lot more informative photos in the near future.
