My 72 Comet Build.....

Today I finished installing the panels I made behind the rear seat..... Then I sealed all the joints up with some seam sealer on the interior side of the panels.....

After that I took a ride to Tampa, had to go to the junk yard and check a Maverick the put on the lot..... I got a couple pieces I needed, but there wasn't a lot of good stuff on the car..... Too bad though because the shell actually seems to be half way decent and virtually no rust.....

Here is the rear filler panels installed and sealed.....

I wish!!!!! I have almost put a halfway decent dent in the work that needs to be done.....

 

Looks amazing!!! Can't wait to see the final product.

 

Me either, I wish someone would finish it for me.....

 

This morning I sealed up the trunk side of the seat area filler panels..... Then after picking up a little I made the exhaust to the rear end, just need to make the tailpipe next week(I put the muffler there due to the gas tank being centered I could not use the stock on beside the tank).....

This morning I installed a much better set of rechromed boomerangs..... Then I painted the trunk side of the rear seat firewall satin black along with the top of the package tray..... After that I started modifying a set of 1" speaker spacers to fit the front kick panels so the speakers I want to use will fit there.....

The way you blended that ring in to the complex shapes of the kick panel look great

 

Thanks, I think it came pretty good..... It is really tight fitting when it is actually screwed to the panel and not just sitting on it..... Tomorrow I will get the other side fitted and get the clearance holes opened up in the front door post.....

 

Did you happen to take any pictures of that area with the boomerangs off?

 

I did not..... I removed the old ones, cleaned the dirt out and installed the new ones.....

 

Today I modified the other speaker spacer for the pass side kick panel and cut the hole in the panel..... Then I marked up the door post for the speaker clearance hole and cut them our..... I deburred those holes and scuffed the paint from the cowl all the way down to the flat of the front floors..... After that I masked up the front of the roll cage, all the holes in the firewall, around the windshield and door jambs..... Then I applied Lizard Skin to the inner quarters and to the firewall from the cowl down to the floor seam at the bottom of the firewall.....

I wonder what the weight of that stuff is, once it's dry...Looks awesome!

 

Wet the Sound Control weighs 13 lbs a gallon and the Ceramic Insulation weighs 5.5 lbs a gallon.....

So far I have used just over a gallon of Sound Control and almost 2 gallons of Ceramic Insulation..... That is for the undercarriage and what I have done on the inside so far..... By the time I am done I will have used almost 2 gallons of SC and close to 3 gallons of CI..... Roughly about 30 lbs.....
