Does anyone know anybody that makes solid motor mounts for a maverick. The rubber ones twist more than I like
I had solid motor mounts in my Mach I and I will tell you at 150mph the car felt like it was going to drive itself apart. Got rid of them! However, I did keep the solid transmission mount on my T56.
I have solids on my mustang and never broke anything, polys on my Camaro with a poly trans mount and haven't broke anything running 6.90's in the 1/8. I don't care for your sarcastic tone so please don't post in my threads anymore. Everybody else thanks for the advice. I was trying to avoid using the bolt trick but if it comes down to it I will
And I don't care for your insulting hostility. I've done nothing to you. My comment was a result of a personal friend breaking 3 transmissions in his '68 Chevelle with a 383 "de-stroker" and a 4-speed, from running solid motor mounts. What ever crawled up your butt, it wasn't me, and I hope you can get it taken care of so that hopefully in the future you're not so touchy.
I remember your 1st post from this thread and took it as you being sarcastic, same with your post in this thread. Idk you may be a great guy in real life but you came off rude to me. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?p=986797#post986797
You have been lucky the transmission hasn't cracked with solid transmission mount and soft motor mounts. You can use 3 solid mounts without a problem.
I have solid motor mounts on the mustang and a rubber trans mount. I was told if the engine mount is stronger than the trans mount you are ok. I remember when my Camaro still had rubber engine mounts I broke the trans mount and installed a poly trans mount I thought the floorboard was going to rip out lol
AutoKrafters for mavericks has a nice torque brace for about $60 which I think I may eventually use on my car, bolts to the frame & mtr on the left side. What I like about it J is it has a threaded rod so it`s adjustable.
Crazy Larry's comment could have been taken either way. His second post explained his reasoning which would have negated disagreement if it had been his first. Let's track together, gentlemen. While the solid mount on my transmission is stronger than the stock motor mounts, I've had no problems to date. And, the D1 spins the 335's relentlessly. I'm rolling as the boost kicks in, so not as harsh as dropping the clutch from a stop.
