The PVC valve is inside the chrome breather on the back of the valve cover. The hose is running into the carb somewhere.
That's nice... You need a open oil cap on the front so the PCV has some point to draw in fresh air...
I just popped off the rear PVC breather cap and shook out what looks like dirty apple sauce. Smells like oil. Aerated oil maybe. Would that happen as a result of not having a breather cap on the front of the valve cover? Is this a good clue?
I fire my new engines with straight distilled water and no T-stat. does your T-stat have air bleed holes?
I'm thinking the aeration is causing the problem now. But I know the oil level was correct and not too full, so I don't understand why the oil would aerate. Unless it's because I'm missing the filtered cap as mentioned earlier by Krazy. My wife said she noticed that the oil pressure was low after the overheat.
Appla sauce? Did you pull the dip stick and look at that? Sounds like condensation. Is there vacuum to the pcv?
Happy new year. Not having a shroud is a factor to consider even if not THE problem at this time. How about timing? Is the cap holding pressure? I am assumming so if it got to 240 and you didn't see alot of steam?
