    Looking to get a new carburetor for my 73 with a 302 / automatic. The current stock carb is leaking bad and overall in poor condition. So I think it would now be the best time to upgrade. I thinking a 4 barrel carb would be good. I do have headers and dual exhaust.

    What are some intake manifold and carbs you guys have used and can recommend together, and for a good price.

    If the engine is otherwise stock I would just go with a 600 cfm vacuum-secondary Holley and Performer or Performer RPM intake.

    600 cfm is good for a stock engine and can be used with a mild build
    I used edelbrock because in my experience theyre pretty much maintenance free where holley you have to adjust them regularly

    What did you have to adjust regularly?

    I'm not looking to drag race it or anything. Just looking to get a little more power out of the car, and drive it a few times a week. Trying to decide to go holly or edelbrock route. Are there other good alternatives, or are they two the best? Also If i get a holly, what manifold would work best?

    Holley, over Edelbrock any day. I learned my lesson.

    If you are keeping it relatively stock and just have headers, pick up an Edelbrock performer from evil bay and a 600 vac secondary Holley. If you want something more nostalgic you can look for a Edelbrock F4B intake which is similar to the ones used on early Shelbys.

    I had a holly on my old truck and it was always giving me problems had to adjust the screws for the fuel air mixture atleast once a month. it would start getting too much gas and flooding out then it would be running good for little while then the air mix would be off then the choke stopped working just a pain it may have been just an old junk carb but the reman ones I bought werent any better so I went with edelbrock on my comet

    the only trouble Ive had out of my edelbrock in atleast 3 years is it started leaking gas when I first start it up after a long period of not starting it but after starting it and running it regularly it stopped leaking on its own

    Simple, easy to tune, Holley, no other for me...

    Were factory on many Fords, I've ran Holleys for years without touching them... And for the most part they are prettier than any comparably priced carb...

    (Yeah I've always been swayed by a pretty face)

    My 600 setting on a 8020 Weiand intake...

    Get a HO 2100 or 2150 carburetor. Use a dual stage power valve and larger Jets.

    1.08 = 287 CFM
    1.14 = 300 CFM
    1.21 = 351 CFM
    1.23 = 356 CFM
    1.33 = 424 CFM

    These are basic numbers; there are some HO models with a little more CFM.

    Thanks guys, for showing me some options. I wasnt trying to start a holly / edelbrock war lol. I am leaning towards the holly. Still looking at intakes, can you mix and match holly and edelbrock or is that too taboo?

    I am pretty new when it come to carbs, trying to watch videos on tuning with vacuum gauge. Its not too hard to do is it?
