Louvers I have a set I removed from a 70 Maverick put up in the "Loft" for safe keeping.. Had them there for years .. I'd sell them but only to a person close enough to Deland , Florida to drive over and PICK THEM UP .. I wouldn't take a chance on shipping them and risk damage. I'd want $350.00 . Cometized

Hey Chip! Hope all is well with you. I had two sets of the louvers, the ones on my blue car and an extra set. I had so much interest in them I finally offered my extra set up for sale. They brought me twice your asking price so if somebody thinks that's too high just go on to the next guy. I wish I had 50 sets...I could sell every one of them. Ray
I second that! I had a set also, they sold for quite a bit more than you are asking, Tody over in Germany got them, I wish I had the money, I would buy your set and sit on them for a bit, I thought about what I just said and NO I don't mean really sit on them lol.
I've measured and roughly "minds eye" mocked those parts onto our cars many times over and our side windows are considerably different than the late Mustangs. They would need to be heavily sliced, diced, and added to.. to even come close. I would be extremely interested to know how yours came out though. How will you be sending them if I give you my email?
LOL.. the nerve of some people, eh? They get all touchy when people start teasing about their cars and tastes looking like 70's vans and using building construction techniques to build em'. :16suspect I sure like em'.. and I'd bet BIG cash that more cars would show up at the car shows wearing them if they could be done within the scale and lines of our cars. Another factor that makes cutting and retrofitting other models of car louvers less likely is that the actual ANGLE of the slats is best matched to the windows existing angle. Just because you can make some other version fit our rear window.. doesn't necessarily make it look.. "right". Engineering in the proper/functional trunk access while keeping install/removal within reason is the biggest key here. I look at it like this. If someone doesn't make a set.. that I like.. by the time I'm fine tuning my build?.. I'll just make my own. And having a pin-on decklid makes my life easier when it comes time to do it.

Thanks for the reply and I see your dilemma now. I could fairly easily(depending on your computer skills).. show you how to crop and resize them to easily and quickly fly across the net to hit our server.. or for that matter, any file-sharing server of your choice. Just so's we can all see them on our screens. I assume the OP would be interested in seeing those pic's too... and hopefully.. rayzor?.. can share some of the wealth gained from this thread with the rest of us.
Reproducing Louvers Hi Tody: I think reproducing the louvers would be problematic for me since I would want to " Hinge" them so they could be raised out of the way to open the trunk, and then secured when the lid was closed. I'm presently in the process of "chroming" Plastic Parts such as interior AC ducts , marker lights , Bucket Seat Plastic Trim Pieces and Grilles for Mavericks and Comets . Also in the middle of building another COMET and a Maverick I just picked up.The COMET is almost done , and the Maverick needs a little TLC before its ready for the 3000 mile POWER TOUR trip..The Chrome won't be happening until Spring.. We're gearing up here for the TOUR the first week of June so I don't have a lot of extra time.. Wish you were here .. You'd really enjoy the tour.

That's because the slats were properly sloped and proportioned to the cars window layout and overall size. The same thing could easily be done with ours since we have similar fastback styles too. The 71' Torino GT had short'ish rear glass too. In that specific design the rear windows have a natural cove shape that was filled in by the slats. I always imagined the car seemed to be a bit more slippery at higher speeds once I finally installed louvers. With what the NASCAR guys were going through.. I figure it couldn't have hurt. In my minds eye.. they would have to be slightly shorter in depth(how far they stick off the glass from side-view)and slat spacing could be improved with a couple or few more slats than average from top to bottom. The bonus effect of such a design is that it carries forward to the side slats much thinner/additional slat requirement . It's definitely a balancing act.. but nice clean and properly proportioned accents usually never hurt curb appeal. Then just add body color if you really want them to pop. You should'a guessed it by now. To some of us.. old-school is still pretty cool.
What I had to do to use the mustang louvers is to cut off 3 slats worth and then they didn't cover the stock rear window opening so I used a kit to reinstall rear window after installing a mustang headliner(another mod which didn't come out so good) and then installed stainless and added ever so little body filler to finesse gap and on the bottom of the louvers on each side I left a tab to tuck in by the window stainless and 2 stainless screws across top of louvers to attach to attach on roof. The trunk lid is able to be opened about 12 inches without removing slats but slats only take a minute or 2 to remove. wes
