It's listed on the regular order form, and not listed as a "Extra Cost", but when you look on the "Trim Availability" chart, it's not listed...I'll have to dig out my trim selection books...:hmmm:

All the special paint code vehicles of the early 70s I've seen are blank, with the Ford code & color listed on the window sticker and build sheet... Sooo AFAIK if a paint code is listed, it's a std option for that vehicle line, popular or not...

That should not be too hard. You are in Texas with lots of rust free cars and parts, plus Texas is a pretty active community of Maverick/Comet people who can help you out.

Did some research and found that 5A Pewter wasn't a special order color, but did find out that special order colors had 6 digit DSO's. Very cool car nonetheless, and I'm glad an enthusiast bought it.

Correct! A blank paint code, but 6-digit DSO. Someone on here had a factory-purple Maverick some time ago.

Out of the ALL the Grabbers they made in 1973, to only paint 642 of them silver....I throw the rare card. Cool.

That's about what I was thinking.

I like the color. Just thinking black not white. Perhaps the white will grow on me more

Now it's time to start doing some research. Gas tank replacement to start with.

Easy, use one from a 76 Maverick, you can buy them new at Rock Auto, and use the 73 sending unit, that's what I did, and I've never run outta gas.

From what little research I've done I read that the 65-66 mustang tank was a good swap. If the 76 tank and the 73 sender are radially available then that may be the better route to go.

The previous owner said he was not able to turn it over with the key. But with the key in and on run he could jump it on the solenoid.

    Any suggestions?
