1972 Maverick Grabber Resto/Mod for my Dad

I used exhaust pipe in different diameters. The toughest part was to get the main piece rolled to fit perfect. It does not have the same curve on both sides of the dash.

 

You mean the cluster face?

 

Got the Ashtray pretty much gone plus the gap on the right side taken care of. A little more metal work, getting the left side gaps evened out, and clean up the openings for the gauges and it will be off to primer.

 

Yes. If you look at the plastic OEM piece it is not symmetric with the curve left to right. It just took a little more hand forming than to just put the metal in a roller.

 

I take it, centering the gauges on the steering column was not an option.

 

There is not enough room. The original gauges were not centered from the factory which is surprising to me.

 

Looks great. I am curious as to how you are mounting it?

 

Tabs at the bottom like the stock cluster and 2 screws at the top which will be capped for a clean look. The screws will be inside a pocket so the caps should sit close to flush.

 

The dash looks great! I can't wait to see it all together and in one color!

 

Finished up the final work on the instrument cluster and dash, epoxied primed them and they are painted. The dash is 2 toned with the cyber gray in the middle and semi gloss black on the out side.
