Well, here is how cool my wife is...she said we will wait until the NEXT weekend and have a big 30th party at our house, just so I can show off my Mav So, even though her birthday is ON the 23rd, she is willing to hold off a week and do her party. Rick, it only takes 45 mins to an hour for me to get to your house, especially if we do it before the traffic. We can meet there and convoy up to Waco. We have to leave the dog home, so we will have to come back home that night, but thanks for the sleepover offer. So, as soon as I can nail down a trailer, I can 100% confirm that we will make it. Any ideas for trailer rental? I have a couple friends locally who might loan one, but I hate borrowing trailers. It seems like they like to freeze up bearings or blow tires JUST WHEN YOU BORROW IT!!!
I was feeling all right about trailering mine, till I read your last line. I have a spare tire but not bearings. The car is kinda light... Well see...
Don't worry Blu, that only happens if you BORROW a trailer. Never on a trailer you own. If I owned one, I would have no worries...
I felt the same way about trailers before I got mine. I think the stigma of the wheel bearings going bad comes from the boat trailers. The axles are backed into the water twice every time out and are usually overloaded to begin with. I'd guess that a seal is leaking and lets in either fresh, or worse, salt water that gets to the bearings. I'm not saying that car haulers DON'T have wheel bearing failures, I believe they're I called a few trailer rental places around my area to see how much they wanted. 16'ers were around $50/day (without tie-downs). Since I was going to be gone a week, it just didn't make sense to throw that money away. I google "trailer rentals" and your zip to see what you come up with. If a buddy will let you borrow his (and the tie-downs), it's worth taking the chance IMO. You'll have help most of the way if something goes wrong. You can always pay for the repair in the unlikely event something does happen. Good luck on your search. I hope you can make it. We'll talk about you behind your back if you don't. RE: Anna's party postponement 'Sorry. Tell her I promise NOT to sing.
A buddy said that McCoy's lumber rents trailers for $35 a day...I will need the correct tie downs, an we are on our way... :bananaman Anna said you can sing, but she needs three beers first
Most of our cars "aren't ready". Just bring what you got. We all are working on our vehicles, and will respect what has been done, and might be able to give suggestions on future projects. Mine will be AT LEAST 4 colors when I bring it...
After seeing your car, I doubt it. I would guess your car is one of the top 10 fast mavs...period. Top 5 in our forum. What are your times, by the way? I looked on the timeslips and did not see yours. Just wondering
I guaranteee all of them are faster than mine. The Maverick I drove at the dragstrip in Kentucky was literally running on only 7 cylinders! Left a big cloud of black smoke...and it wasn't from my tires! Glad to see the interest in the mini-meet you all! I think we're going to have a good time! Scott: You are right: In fact you will never be DONE with your Maverick! There is always more to do. Doug (512) 217-1115 cell
Honestly, I crumpled up the time slips after I read my 60' times (which was all I was looking for on my first time out). I was NOt impressed, so they were trashed immediately. I know what a 1.5X 60' feels like (it's one of those things you 'just know'). I knew before I'd reached 30' that none of my runs were in the ball-park. Actually, I never even looked at my R/T ("Instant Replay" indicates I did okay for not having been to a drag strip in a long time). When I have at least a sub-1.6 60', I'll post it.... I'll get there. I just keep reminding myself, "In time. In time."
