Conducted a multitude of complex and difficult tests today. Determined that the #5 cylinder was in place and NOT missing, though it has an exhaust valve with a problem. The car on jack stands has been determined to be a Stallion and Not a Sprint.:16suspect I also have determined that it is indeed New Years and some people might have a more than normal percentage of alcohol in their blood level, myself included. . So, for the grabber, a head rework is in order. Todd, are you the Wyoming State Rep yet?? Dan ps Frank, I whacked on the valve springs and rocker arm,,, no luck
I am sorry Dan I know its not a sprint!!!!! Wyoming state rep...I talked to Craig about it and I emailed??? (cant remember names!!!) but I havent heard back from him....I will try again.
Yes, Dave, , it is a 200. This pic shows my widdle finger pointing to da big bad culprit. Burnt exhaust valve. With the results of the compression check on 5 cylinders, I am confident the bottom end is in good shape. Going to redo the top side of the engine. Are the lifters a pain to get out?? Or should I use dynamite? Dan
Wow...looks like that thing was run quite a bit with that missing cylinder. Almost got a missing valve. Too bad you're not a little closer to me. I have an entire 200 engine from a 71 with 48k actual miles. I'd take 100 bucks for it complete. It's been in storage for a while but ran perfect when I pulled it out.
Ray, that is a great deal on that motor,, distance is the evil. There was some discussion on the engine bay color when this car first hit ebay. I can tell you that the black was painted over the yellow, or whatever color it actually is. I am going to pull the remains of the engine and trans and detail everything. Dan
I may be interested in that 200, I have a 76 that needs some help and I am in Jackson. I wonder how different the 2 engines would be?
dennis, Quote: it too had a missing cyl. "Since a cylinder is just empty space, how would you know if it was missing? " it's like the..."broke brakes"... thing
No its not a Grabber. But I was checking the car out right after I got it home. And I noticed that the headlights looked real similar to those on the "Shelby Maverick" so I started checking into it. I got with Marti and he determined that it was not a Shelby, BUT, it is either a BOSS-250 Maverick or a limited edition Hi-Po 250 Maruader. I was tying to keep this ifo under my hat until I had a definite answer, but since you brought it up I figured I would let you guys in on it Dan, if my count is correct, that makes 3 Mav's. Now I know the Stallion is the "boo", but is there any chance of these others making it to the Round-up? **** Also, to comment on Todd........you are right.....Dan Starnes and stock, do not go together
John, my goal is to have 2 mavs at the Roundup this year. That is the goal, now see if life lets me do it. Dan
hmmmm.....Dennis always has words of wisdom:16suspect ...from a single guy life/wife....both have about the same inpack on what happens
Life presents the everyday trials and tribulations. Wife says no more cars!! I aint payin attn to either. Dan
