Anyone give me some insight as to what radiator hoses they used to connect an EFI 302 to a stock radiator? I have an upper hose from an ‘89 Mustang. It looks like I will have to cut it in the middle and use a coupler to shorten it unless someone has a better solution. As for the bottom, does a stock 302 Maverick hose work? I don’t want to order one only to find out it does not work.
Other than the bright blue ones made by Goodyear, does anyone know of a source for silicone hoses that will work?
    Thanks,
    Micah

The upper hose couldn't you use a 70 ' s water neck and use a factory upper hose.

I'm running the serpentine belt and the hose has to get over the tensioner and alternator.

Send a PM to the member injectedmav and ask him what he used. This is a pic I took of his car at a Maverick meet a while back.

    Jamie,
    Thanks!

I sent Injected a message but have not heard back. Anyone else happen to know what I need to use?

If you don't mind going away from the stock look...

I used the aluminum accordian-style hoses top and bottom. They can be bent to go around any obstacles, and they do not get soft and collapse when hot. They also perform cooling functions, themselves, due to being metal and having "fins" along their length. It can be shortened to fit, as well.

I used a piece of rubber hose to cover and protect the metal hose, just over the alternator, so it wouldn't rub and wear over time.

Just FYI...the thermostat housing on a 5.0 is different. It comes straight up, rather than up and out at an angle. This puts the hose coming straight up off the engine to clear all the accessories.

    Scooper,
Thanks for the suggestion, but I would like to stick with the rubber hoses.

I ordered a stock Maverick lower hose last night with the hope that it will fit. If I can just figure out the top one, maybe I will be set.

Sorry for the delay. Been busy at work. I sent you a PM but for anyone else who might have the same issue:

Lower hose is stock V8 Maverick,
    Gates 20702

The upper is a lower hose from a 97 Explorer

    ford # F77Z-8286-AB
    Motorcraft KM-3242

Alright, I think I have this figured out.

I tried the Bronco II, Napa #NBH7470, and did not like the fit. I tried something that the early Mustangs were using but did not like it either.

After some messages with Injected (Jason), it did not appear as though the lower hose from a ’97 Explorer was not correct either. I then looked at the upper hose for the Explorer, Goodyear 62834. I just stuck it on there and it looks like it is a match with the photograph of Jason’s car.

Thanks to all. I hope this helps someone in the future.

I will update my parts list. Thanks for catching and letting everyone know the application discrepancy.
