    Hello everyone,
I am currently in progress with my swap. I have pulled out my stock I6 250 from my '77 Maverick and in it's place I am dropping in a 302 from a 1985 F-150. The issues I am having center on the oil pan and the steering system. I had mounts custom made from a place out in Ohio, they are in place. The new headers are in place. Everything is mostly ready but I can't get the motor centered on the mounts without a corner of the pan hitting the steering system and tilting the motor. If I dent the pan, it only solves one problem. Even if I solve the pan problem the steering system is still in the way of mounting the transmission. I have read the post on doing the 250-302 swap and there wasn't anything about the steering system needing to be fiddled with. I'm looking to do this the easiest way possible, if I have to swap out the steering system so be it but I'd rather not. This is my first venture into doing anything like this, the biggest project I have ever undertaken, any help/info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    What pan are you using?

With a orig front sump pan from a rear steer '60s/ '70s 289/302 there should not be a issue...

The custom frame mounts are the problem in my opinion... I'm willing to bet,if you use a standard set of maverick v8 frame mounts the fitment will not be an issue...

the truck pan is definetly the problem. if i remember corrctly they use more of a center hump pan than the different car pans.

this is what comes up on google for a truck oil pan

this is what the front sump oil pan you need looks like

you will also need to change the oil pick up tube to match the pan.

you did get the v8 frame mounts as theyre different than the I6 mounts and dont forget to get the right flex plate or flywheel otherwise your rear main seal will leak like crazy no matter how many times you change it ask me how we know lol
