I took the mav out for some shake down passes at our local 1/8 th mile track.Foot brake at 2500 it went 6.38@ 108 mph, trans brake@ 2500 6.34@108,and tran brake @4700 6.40 107 spun to much air in slicks and trans brake@3700 6.32 @108,and 60ft of 1.39 shifting at 7000 rpms. Now that I know it goes straight and doesn't do anything stupid ,I plan on leaving @4500 on the trans brake and shifting at 7500 with 8lbs of tire pressure.

We have close to the same setup although I have the 225 Highports with a tiny 750 carb. Been leaving at 4800 on the brake but could stand to loosen the converter it's only flashing to 5400. Last time out was a 9.87 @ 135 , 6.27 110 1/8 with a lazy 1.37 60, shifting at 6800, going through at 7000. Tire's are 32 14.5w 12#

I only had one 9 in pig and it was a 5.38 it worked ok for my 347 left at 4500 and shifted at 6800 and went threw at 6800.We did some numbers with the 418w and it looks like it could go threw the traps around 8100 to high for my taste. Your 4.56 or a 4.86 my be a better gear, thats next on my list before I go 1/4 mile, thanks for the info. I only have one question why the 750 carb ?

I started with the 750 off my old car when I converted to E85. I do have a 1050 Dominator that I ran for a while and it was ok but not as responsive as the 750. The 750 produced a much better fuel curve. What I really need is a 950 or 1000 cfm 4150 based carburetor. The 4150 is just giving me a lot more velocity and signal. As they say, it's all part of the struggle"

With 4.56s & a tire over 30 in tall once you get it dialed in,should go mid 9s if it hooks.4.22s & a shorter tire could also do it.I`m going to petersburg va this wknd with a freind from work to help him with his car,fox body w/ a 363 & a c4,hoping to go low 10s.
