If you don't mind me asking what did it cost you for the glass alone? I am trying to get an idea of a good price to pay for one.

The morons only put in the rubber...there should be black sealer all the way around the seal.

Yeah you would know if it was in there...you usually put a decent amount to give a good seal. They also most likely didn't set the seal correctly.

That really SUCKS. These guys are not qualified to be in the automotive glass business. This it the height of incompetence. I don't blame you for stopping payment at this point, if that's an option. The only thing I see that can be done at this point is to remove and reset the glass.

talked to owner , got a bit snippy but I told him payment will be held until its fixed. they are coming to my house to do it with new seal in hand and sealed on both sides. I told them if it wasn't fixed not only would I head to the York county BBB, id talk to my lawyer. He said he didn't respond to threats... I had to explain it wasn't a threat, it was the course of action that would take place if he didn't do what I paid him to do, and reminded him that they lied to my face (him in person) saying they had water tested it. He calmed right down and it will be resolved Monday by 5pm one way or another.

how do these people sleep at night?

Maybe he did water test it , maybe he didn't know you wanted to keep the water out , I couldn't find a shop near me that would do my windows using sealer , they all said it would make a big mess and nobody wanted to do it for that reason , so I ended up doing it myself , if they couldn't do it right the first time and let it go like that I don't think I would want them working on my car . Might be better off just getting your money back for installation and gasket and try a different place .

Most vendors don't want to return money w\o a chance to redo the work. To be on legal high ground in a lot of places you may have to give them a chance.

Make sure they use the right sealer - like 3m 8509 - it is the correct gooey black stuff like the old butyl rubber sealer that was originally used for gasket glass and is now obsolete. If they use modern hardening sealer it will fail as the body flexes going down the road. I just did the front and rear glass successfully and I used a bit over 4 tubes.

if you have to explain either one of these to them (stands/sealer), take it some place else...:yup:

"they still did a crap job overall by not installing the trim or even the mirror as they promised and were full of excuses, including taking almost 2 days to do it."

"I brought them the car with the glass out and it all prepped!"
did you take them the stands, they usually come out with the old seal?
