The rotors are bad and I decided to replace them with a set of 11 inch drilled and slotted rotors but the posting on ebay never specify they are 1 inch thick originally the factory rotors come .88 or 7/8 thick I call the guy and he said the posting is for a mustang 2 .. well the rotors fit great on the spindles but my stock calipers with new pads won't fit but with the old pads fit perfectly. Is this because the rotors are 1 inch instead of .88 or 7/8 thick? I just need to know if there's a thiner set of pads for this rotor the ones I bought are 8811 hp slotted mustang 2 rotors on ebay if any one has any suggestions Please let me know. .
I'll guess finding a thinner set of pads that fit you calipers are zero & none...I don't know what the thickness of stock pads would be, probably .350 or so?? Would mean you'd have to find pads that are each are around .340... If you keep the rotors I'd suggest checking with a brake shop to see if they can cut the necessary amount from pads... It's either that or have the new rotors cut to thickness of orig... That could cause the rotor to be under the minimum thickness spec, I believe .060 is usually the max allowable cut..
That question was already answered. Rotors have a minimum thickness before they are unsafe and illegal. Just get the correct rotors for your car and don't try to cut corners when it comes to brakes.
This may not help you...but from what you are saying, these appear to be the rotors that are used in a conversion kit, to adapt modern twin piston PBR calipers to the disc brake spindle. You could consider using the PBR calipers and making a bracket like I am...but that's a lot more work. These are most commonly used on mustang II's in conjunction with a GM caliper, they use the same bearings as stock maverick rotors, as you have found out. On a side note, I must thank you, I've been looking all over for the rotors they use, and it appears by accidentally stumbling on this post, I have. I just wish it wasnt at anothers misfortune
