    Good afternoon,
My dad and I are building a maverick and have been trying to find the best way to deal with this rusting... We are thinking of just cutting it out and having someone weld in a new patch but aren't too sure about where to get the patch from etc. any help would be much appreciated!

Can't tell what the first pic is but it looks like someone added fiberglass mat at one time, the 2nd I see is the inner trunk drop off. A common rot spot for Fords. You can patch in sections from a donor car, but they are getting harder to find. Repop panels from an early Mustang are everywhere and can be fitted in. Either way this type of repair will require some advanced body man skills. It must be done correctly as uni-body cars are very troublesome in that back part of the car as it supports all the weight at the spring shackles. You need to be sure to find and fix all hidden rust.

Mustang panel pic - you can buy them anywhere

Do you know what year works for the panel to fit into a 1972 grabber?

I replaced a lot of pieces on my 70 Maverick and was able to find good pieces from members on the board that live in the south where the parts are in a lot better shape than ones up in Pennsylvania
