Does anyone know where I can get a new bushing for the shift lever at the bottom of the steering column, in front of the firewall, for a '72 Maverick column shift C4? Please ignore the rod in that bushing in the picture. Its a lock down I'll use someday for a floor shift conversion. For now I need a new bushing for the column shift lever.

Hey Jim, I think this is Shift Linkage Bushing you are wanting...from Rock Auto or Mustangs Unlimited. ($ 1 to $ 5)

    * Update with a 2nd source from Mustangs Unlimited also below...in case one or the other is out of stock.

(others can double check me on this...it says Mustang...but I think it is the same one for the Mavericks...I had a hard time finding this one awhile back also....and others may know more about how to properly press them in)

    I hope this helps.

(The Rock Auto one is the same color as the Factory ones)

(The Mustangs Unlimited one is Black color)

Here's a picture of one on a similar Column Linkage "Ear" (spun around the other way)

    Roger,

That looks like it. For $1 and $2 shipping I'll take a chance. (y)

Thanks a lot for looking it up. :Handshake I wasn't finding anything like it.

And I updated the post with a 2nd Source from Mustangs Unlimited...see above....in case one or the other is out of stock for you.

The Rock Auto one costs less, and is the same color as the Factory ones though.

Guess I didn't find it at Mustangs Unlimited 'cause I was looking for a bushing, not an "insulator". Nice to know they're available. Thanks again.

There are 3 different sizes available from Ford still, I posted the part numbers a few years ago. Be prepared for some work to get the rod, to go into the new bushing, they can be a pain.

Gotta put the "insulator" into the shift arm first. Then lube the end of the rod and squeeze it on with some channel locks. ATP part number FO-300 was right for mine.

If you have Advance Auto Parts, look in the " help " section. There is an assortment of them!:)

Off of the net. But honestly it didn't work well. It says ford but its too generic.

I made something that looks like that with a small bolt and large nut welded to the jaws on channel-loc. The next one I make will be made from a C-clamp
