Sorry but it is possible, I have experienced it. I know what my issues were and chased it for months. I know what fixed my constant need to bleed my brakes and over the 30 years since have talked with others that had the same issue. This is regarding the prop valve, not wheel cylinders but I can see how it could happen there but is very unlikely.

You are correct though, a lot told to us while there was bad info. Had one instructor tell a student the same bolts that mount the wheel cylinder also kept the pistons in place.

Everyone knows pistons are kept in place by return springs. AND if your ABS brakes are faulty, try blinker fluid as replacement brake fluid

so im looking at a ne break kit. I see a 4 and a single piston kit at discbreakswap.com ... Single here CLICK single piston SWAP2.3 $738 vs 4 piston here CLICK 4 piston SWAP1.4 $694...why would I not go 4 piston when its cheaper? 4>1

Mainly cheaper because the four piston kit bolts to original spindles.

The booster M/C combo shown will never fit into a maverick.

I have the four piston kit on my Fairlane, even without power they are very good.

If you click on the image link for 1.4 it shows it without the booster. So looks like this is the winner

I got this back from them.,.

The 70 Maverick brakes are like 70 Mustang , so the SWAP.1.6/M/AS.70 or SWAP.2.4/M/AS.70 are applicable. The 1.6 will mount to the cars existing spindles and feature 4 piston calipers. The 2.4 is the original type for 70 Mustang and uses single piston calipers. Both are excellent.

The AS.70 part of the part number indicates the inclusion of a $31 distribution block adapter kit which is necessary with 70 and up models

I got to find some temporary tires to put on this thing because my current ones are four bolt. If I go to the salvage yard pick up a cheap set of rim and tires has Ford kept the bolt pattern the same? So if I get tires off of a small Ford car should they fit?

Ford used the same 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern on most of their cars, Rangers (to 2010) & Explorers (to 2001) this is why most people switch to 5 bolt pattern. My Comets currently sitting on 2005 Ranger 15” wheels & tires.

I’m just using the Ranger wheels/tires as rollers so no caps. Tires are 235/75R15 because that’s what was on the wheels when I took them off my truck.

I prefer these caps (have stacks of them) but “Ford” caps would not look right on a Comet.

Any cap that clips on the lug nuts will work.

You did take home the lug nuts?
