When we drive our car over 60mph (-ish) the back of the hood sometimes starts to lift up slightly. The bolts are tight, so is this due to old worn hinges? And if so, does anyone have a good set for sale?

Usually worn hinges will do that, could also be the adjustment.

More often than not, it's just an adjustment. But I wouldn't rule out sloppy hinges as well.

What am I to "adjust"??? The hood seems firm and lays flat when shut.

It only starts to lift at highway speeds - kinda alarming first time it happened...

    Do this.

    Step1-Cut hole Step2-Add scoop. :)

    Or

Buy NOS hood hinges off Acornridgeman. I tried to fix my old ones but it didnt last. Got sloppy again. I dont know if he has any left or not. It tightened my hood up nice.

i have the same problem. apparently from what I was told in the pat the part that attaches to the car needs to be adjusted. I am not sure which way it needs to be adjusted

Usually it's caused by your hinges being adjusted to far down. Your hood then bottoms out on the bumpers before the scissors of the hood hinges are fully folded. Unless they are fully folded they are not locked. Adjust the hood hinges where they mount on the fender aprons UP until the hood is slightly raised in the back when shut. Then drop it down slightly until hood is aligned. That should stop the lift.

    Already got that mod :Handshake

I have no bumpers (on order from AK right now).

I checked tonight and the rivets (???) on the scissors are all pretty loose. Passenger side is worse than driver side. Is this repairable or do I need new hinges...???

Ooohhhh - I'd really like to get a set of those puppies!!!

    But I corn-fess to some corn-fusion...

Does the hood rise due to the design of the hinges or the slack that creeps into the pivot point rivets?

Either way, it appears the REASON for lowering the hinges (on the inner fender well) is to basically stretch out the "slack" in the hinges. When the hood is lowered, it sits on the (rear) bumpers and because the slack is taken up, the hood can't rise anymore.

    Is this correct?

And if so, is there any problem with doing this (i.e. treating the symptom and not curing the disease) ? ? ?

 Did you read my Post?? Lowering the hinges will make it worse. Loosen the bolts on the fender aprons and RIASE the hinges ....

Like posted above you need to raise the hinge on the body so they lift the hood slightly in the rear, the lower them just enough to line the hood up flush. My biggest issue was the hood hitting the cowl when opened unless you pulled forward. The new hinges solved that problem as well as lined up the hood better.
