Only problem is I'm not at my parents anymore. . . My father has EVERY tool I could need and... I don't I'm starting to tool up though. . but luckily I don't live too far from them. . just gotta get the driver seat mounted so I can cruise back and forth and work on it.
I had the 86 laying around... probably should went with a late 70's chases bc the 86 is SOOOO much wider than the 65. But I got IFS out of it
I took the cab frame mounts off of the original chassis and transfered them to the 79 chassis. I also made new bushings that were about an inch and a half longer to level it with the radiator support. I also used the pedal assembly and steering out of the 79 which gave us power steering and power brakes. That necessitated using part of the steering/brake firewall brace from the 79 and moving those components. The bed still needs some reworking to clear the rear shackle. All in all it was a very straight forward adaptation and makes a great truck.
Here are a few pictures of the above work. The steel pipe spacer was just a temporary sizing. The actual mount was made of plastic.
All that is pretty much exactly what I did. I used the part of the firewall on the driver side and everything to allow for power breaks / hydrolic clutch and a steering column from an 87 ..
