I think I might have the dist too far advanced. I will check that when I get home as well.
I noticed you said in gear. If I have it in drive it should be around 600-800 and if its in park it should idle higher since im out of gear...
What should the rpms be set to at idle? Right now my car is idling at 1,000 This is a 79 ford 302 5.0

Everything on the engine is brand new. Im leading towards the needle as well its really rich when trying to start it almost floods quickly.

It should but more than likely you will need to change the bellhousing. Have you compared the two transmissions?
Yeah I figured that was it. Put the old dist on it with the msd ignition it fired Right up.
