I'd say you don't need two filter before the pump. I'd remove the in tank sock. Most pumps are made to push and don't pull well.
I'm pretty sure their vacuum operated. There should be a line going through the firewall inside. I'd start there.

I'd say it's doable. You can probably buy a top mount or fab one. But you may have to make lower arms. Just my thoughts.
