All you need to figure out is a way to fully engage the kickdown lever when the throttle plates open all the way.
It is an easy fix. You will need to take the pan off and remove the nut on the inside of the tranny holding the shifter in place.

Ya it needs to come out. You probably have to take te bell off to get the pump out.
Front seal or TC. Does the TC have a drain plug? Front seal is a rather easy fix. Just sucks you gotta slide the tranny back.
Do a compression test and put the numbers here. I would also like to see the specs on the engine.
Check for a loose cooler line..... Where is the fluid coming from?

Get in the zone and borrow a comp tester. Report back. I'll tell you how to check it.
My I6 was 80ish Psi. Those numbers are not good. Missing a cylinder will cause it to run rough and weak. Low comp will also cause it to be weak.
