Why not just put a new posi in the 8" you have now?...A lot easier
Misalignment or the wrong starter can cause this....I'm sure somebody will chime in that knows the different starters than i do

Anything more than a 2" block in the rear and you have to be concerned with driveshaft to floor contact towards the rear

No, it means the bendix gear in the starter isn't being kicked into the flywheel so the starter motor itself is spinning without being engaged...
Sagging mostly happens when the floors and inner rockers rot out, 99% of the time in convertibles because the absence of a roof
Sounds like the starter motor is spinning but the drive gear isn't engaging the flywheel

I've used DAS also and was happy......
Pull the plug wires off one at a time while it's running, looking for the one that doesn't lower the rpm at all when it's off..Use insulated...

You can put limiting cables around the rear so it doesn't drop so far....The original Shelby GT-350's had these but they where more for preventing...
I've also tapered the end of a bolt on a bench grinder for those hard to start bolts...Kind of self centers it as you start threading it
