You can use the Six cylinder springs. You do not have to have the gas pedal. You do need the throttle cable.
Go find a broken microwave and in the bottom there will be circular magnets that will be plenty strong. Or try harbor freight, you should be able...

Yeah you would know if it was in there...you usually put a decent amount to give a good seal. They also most likely didn't set the seal correctly.
The morons only put in the rubber...there should be black sealer all the way around the seal.
