That is a pretty intricate and detailed description to be wrong. Weird.

200 would have a high mount starter.
250 and 302 share the same bolt pattern.

where do the holes not line up? on your block or on your bellhousing?

Dave is right. I just counted my flywheel and it is 164 tooth. I thought all Mavericks were 157.:slap:

I wonder if someone upgraded to a 164 tooth flywheel a long time ago so they could use the bigger clutch/pressure plat combo?

I went throught the same thing awhile back. Guy listed it wrong Bellhousign and blockplate both were super wrong. I even asked him specifically if it would work for mating a 302 to a 4 speed manual and he emailed back that it would. When I got the bell and plate the bell was for 164 tooth flywheel and I have no clue what the plate was for because it did not even match the bell or the 157 tooth bell that I bought later. When I confronted the guy about it his excuse was he is a "chevy guy" and was just going by what he was told. I told him it doesn't take a FORD Genius to know that the plate didn't even line up with the holes in the bell housing that he shipped in the same box together and to top it all of he sent the wrong clutch fork as well.

all that 164 and 157 tooth 302 vs 351 some are the same and some aren't Jeez and cracker what a headache. I did finally get all the right parts from a good fellow here at the board, Thank goodness for fellow Maverickers knowing what the heck they are talking about :yahoo:

You know how Ford was back then...

"Hey Joe, the line ran out of small bellhousings and we got a manual Comet holding us up!"

"Don't stop the line! Just throw a 351 bellhousing on it."

That is kinda what I am thinking. Bigger flywheel, clutch, pressureplate, and belhousing to match and move it out. But I am wondering if some of the Comet GT's may have came with the 164 tooth flywheel so they would have the bigger clutch just because they are a Mercury product. I know you can use the 10 or the 10-1/2 inch clutch with the 164 tooth flywheel I guess I shouldn't assume that it has the bigger clutch just because it has the bigger flywheel
