Anybody have a thread or link on the above set-ups? Spring-perches,Upper A-arm bushing mods(Super-Stockers)
i made my own roller spring perches...2 bearings...1 bushing =$44... ..didn't have to cut anything... before and after pics. ...Frank...
Thanks frank. Did you purchase the new one already dissasembled? Or did you burn out the old rubber bushings and go from there? What about your uppers? did you eliminate the bushing serations so it would travel also? This wont see the street, so that isnt a issue. Some part numbers, etc would be nice. Thanks. How about a sticky or thread on this. Regards. Al
first let me say ...this was not my idea...my good friend...Jeff...and i were talking and he made a statement that...got me to thinking... now...the pic. on the right is how i got the perches (removed in salvage yard)...the pic. on the left is after i dissambled and cleaned them....the perches Jeff told me about...don't have...rubber bushings...they have brass bushings. i removed the ...brass bushings and replaced them with...7800 lb. rated needle bearings. i installed a new brass bushing in between them to help carry the load. the guy at Bearings and Drives said ..."with the bearings i was using i didn't need it." Jeff can tell you more about the...stock spring perches...we used... ...Frank...:Handshake
Thanks Frank, I spoke too soon asking for details on your first reply. That link Jeff sent had everything I needed. The brass ones like yours are early Falcon.Thanks. Al
bearings what is the part numbers for the bearings and bushings?? is falcon pieces also used?? thanks
Refer to the above link for the opentracker site. look up daze cars DIY site. He has all the info to do it yourself. you can buy his kits or get the part numbers. Nice site. Al
Yes, you will need a set of 60-63 Falcon spring perch. The part number for the Needle Bearing is TIMB1212 you need to buy 4. The Bushing part number is ISORP121620 and you need to buy 2. I have only seen one set of factory shafts destroyed out of 9 sets because of lack of grease. I have over 200,000 miles on the orignial perches in my 60 Falcon and they still roll smooth without any signs of wear.
hey guys, could you tell me why it is your replacing the spring perch. and using roller bearings? does this bennifit the handling of the car. if so, i want to know all about it!
They allowed the coil spring and shock to travel up and down on its natural travel. A rubber bushing will hold the spring back and it will compress at an angle putting stress on the shock
ok you guys used falcon perches but can the mustang or maverick perchs work too?? i know the 68 stang perches are the same as the mav.
