So how long do you guys think it will be before we see a Coyote 5.0 in a Maverick? I am saving for a Mustang II kit from Rod & Custom because I want rack & pinion, rebuilt front suspension, disc brakes, and more engine bay room all in one swoop. I already have a 331 stroker but in a few years Coyotes will be in the wreaking yards :) Hmmmm..... If they make a 3600 Lb Mustang go 12.6 @ 111 with 26 MPG I wonder what my 2900 Lb Maverick would do?

Ford Racing will be selling 5.0 Crate engines, harnesses and ECM's for aftermarket use ...

With just a tune and slicks they're already running low 11s.

Considering how cheap 80% of the Maverick owners are....just look how many Mod motor ones there are...less than a dozen.

I just want a set of the new 5.0 badges so I can be the first to have them on a Maverick.

It would be an absolutely awesome swap!:thumbs2: This engine will go down as one of the greatest engines to ever come out of Detroit, it's a world class engine, it's already proven to be quite the powerhouse, and it's potential has barely been scratched. :yup: :2cents:

I thought a coyote was a kit car built on a VW bug frame? When did Ford start using that name on an engine? I must be behind times [again].

Coyote was the code name that Ford used for the all new 5.0 litre or 302 cu. in. motor in the 2011 Mustang GT:tiphat:

I have yet to see anyone with a running mod motor (4.6) in a Maverick .
A lot of people talk about it,plan it ,tell us how awesome theirs is gonna be,but so far no one has one running...I know there are pics in the gallery of a couple of them actually installed but not with everything plumbed and ready to fire up.

Maybe someone will have a running Coyote powered Maverick /Comet BEFORE the first Mod motored one happens.:hmmm:

I know that. I was just using the term "mod motor " in referance to the 4.6

If I had the Bucks my `71 Maverick would be built with an `03 Cobra supercharged engine and a R+C front suspension.

Me too, there's no need to be so fussy. Everyone knows what you meant.:tiphat:
I thinking I rather have one of those engines out of a Ford GT, than the new Mustang...But that would be worth more than a Maverick.
