    1. Are the sidemarker lights supposed to blink?
    2. What years did the Grabbers have the tail panel blacked out as well as the bottom half of the spoiler and inside half of the quarter extensions?
I'll have others later, those are just the ones that are bothering me now.
    Thanks

Yes....side markers blink. I seem to recall having that conversation before on here.

Only the 1970 Grabber back end is painted as you describe.

Blinking sidemarkers? Now that is something I have never seen. Not a bad idea though, now that I think about it. Wouldn't be too hard to wire them to the turn signals.

    Our 71 Grabber, and 71 4dr both blink, the 76's don't.

    They don`t blink on my 1969 1/2 , 1971, 1971 Grabber ,or my 1972 Grabber.

But I saw some at the round-up that did (conversation that Franks talking about)

Okay, so now I know why I didn't know the answer. I actually didn't think they blinked, but in the "standard features" section of my 1970 Maverick brochure, it lists "flashing side marker lights (synchronized with turn signals)". As of right now, all the lights work great on the orange car as long as the side markers are not supposed to blink.

No Maverick I ever owned had blinking side markers. However, I have seen some that do. Another one of those strange things.

for them to blink, wouldnt they need to be a two filament bulb? one that comes on with the parking lights. and one for the blinkers. that would mean each light would need three wires. if you wired then to your blinkers, they would only come on when you turned on your blinkers. am i thinking correct?

Yea, that's how I would do it. Would be intresting to see how it was done from the factory.

Okay, so now I looked in my 1970 owners manual(just recently signed by Jack Roush) and it says "On vehicles built after early November 1969, side marker lights also flash when turn signals are actuated." Does anyone have a 1971 or later manual, does it say the same thing? Maybe it is a plant specific thing?

My 74 Maverick ... they do not blink.

On my 71 Grabber they do ...

and interestingly ... if the headlights are off .. the side marker lights (front and rear) turns on and off with the directional. If the headlights are on .. The marker lights are off when the directional is on and the marker lights are on when the directional is off. Never noticed that before.

My grandpa has a '78 C30 Chevy van, and the side markers on it work the same way. I'm betting it's got something to do with how they are grounded. I'm going to poke around on that Chevy and see if I can figgure out how they are wired.

The owners manual to my '74 Grabber says nothing about the side markers blinking (and they never blinked when I drove the car). My Grabber rolled off the Wayne, Michigan assembly line March 6, 1974.

I do not have an owners manual to my '69.5, but the side markers do NOT blink with the turn signals. My '69.5 rolled off the line at the Canada plant July 17, 1969... my '73 2 door is also a Canada built car and they do not blink.

My '72, '73 4 door, and '76 are all Kansas City cars, and none of them blink either.

    This is intresting...
