Hey guys, just ran into a problem with dropping my motor in. I have a canton street/strip pan that is front sump, and has kickouts on both sides. The problem is that the back portion of the kickout hits right below where the motor mounts are. My motor can bolt in to the drivers side, but it is at a rediculous angle, and the passenger side still needs about an 1.5" to clear. I really dont want to buy another pan, and the shop that the car is at can tig weld the pan to get it to fit, maybe a 3 hour thing. I went through too much trouble to get the crank wiper and everything to clear my crank and main girdle, so im partial to getting rid of the pan. Any body ever clearanced their pan like this? It would have to be dog eared on both back sides of the kickout

I have heard of that problem before with some extra capacity pans and I have seen some jackleg work on pans. Just make sure the guy doing it knows what he is doing.

    Good luck.

you can't use that type of pan... been right where you were before. any kick out pan or road race type shelby knock of pan will not work.

you'll have to get either a really deep sump pan for the front (which will have ground clearance problems). or get this one... Milodons PN 30925

AND another reason that I needed to keep this pan, is because i'm running a 95 timing chain cover. It doesnt have any fuel pump boss, as Im running a electric pump...but.. it also is not tapped for an oil dipstick. This is the only front sump pan that I could find that has provisions for a remote dipstick. Only the rear or dual sump pans have a fitting for a dipstick. I went through too much trouble to get this pan so Im going to keep it lol

ha at least to knew that.. when i put my late model motor and changed the pan to this one. i didn't know that they didn't have dip sticks in the cover :slap: so my car has no stick :D i just change the oil all the time... it gets expensive.. glad i don't drive it everyday!

you know you can drill a hole in the cover for the stick? but i guess if its already on the car you can't like me :p

yea I used to have to check the oil on my old motor by unplugging the hole where the dipstick "once" went into. (Broke off..) Pain in the rear IMO. Yea the cover is on and super clean, I dont want to drill it, it will be another pain getting it to seal right. I guess my car is custom now... :biglaugh:

    You state that as fact.
Have you ever run a Moroso deep pan?
I have run them on a few Mavericks.
    Both on 302s and a 351c.
    No clearance issues.

This is the size of the Cobra pan:
*NOTE: Overall depth of Pan 8 1/4" x Width of sump area 14" x Length 9" x thickness of sump area 3" Maybe someone else can tell us if this pan will work. I also like them but they do cost.

The sump width on the Milodon 30925 pan is 11 inches and it clears with a little extra space. I would say if the sump on the Cobra pan is 14 inches wide the only way it will fit on a Maverick/Comet would be to install it after the engine is in the car.

The reproduction Cobra pans sell for about $350
