new points, need gap

    hey. left the chilton's in the mountains by accident. what is the correct gap for new points on a 71 4.1L 250? (I've hear dwell is better but I don't have one so this will have to do)

    The initial setting is .017". But to set them corectly, you need a dwell meter after you do this. Do yourself a favor and replace the points with an electronic module. Set it and forget it's there.

    NPD sells the Ignitor, by Pertronix for $78.75. Set them once at go. I bought a set for my '73 Stang 351CJ 11 years ago, still going strong.

    boone, nc. It's in the appalachian mountians - more like glorified hills. Sorry, spent 5 or 6 years there and don't think anything of just saying "mountains". oops.

    They are mountains.


    If you've spent 5-6 years there including winters...you should know that by now. If not, ask Joshua Watauga when he gets back to King Street.
