Looking for the "least expensive" supplier for the manual steering adapter to eliminate the control valve.
I really want to do this, and it is only $100-150 depending on where you get the part...I just can't believe how easy everyone says it will be to turn. If I find a non-PS car and turn it while sitting still, will it be a decent estimate of comparison for how easy mine will turn without PS? I got a friend in the 'hood who has 3 cars (one is a 70), and at least one should be nonPS...
Even BETTER! For that price, I can try it out and then take it off if I don't like the feel of it. It HAS to be better than the swimming side-to-side play of these poor power steering systems...
I found these two parts...I assume you used the $65 kit that uses your stock parts? http://www.mustang-unl.com/itemdy01...bCategory=Steering+Components&CatKey=EMUSTANG http://www.mustang-unl.com/itemdy01...bCategory=Steering+Components&CatKey=EMUSTANG The autoKrafters part is more like the $165 part.
What exactly does the $65 kit do to the original system? Can I get the parts from the hardware store and do it myself?
Thanks Frank, That's the best price I've seen. How difficult was the job ? I have the tool to remove it.
not bad, just messy. i removed the pump, mounting bracket, hoses and cyl. i got the end piece off a parts car and built up a unit. that way i saved the whole set up in case someone wanted it later...frank...
Does Anybody Know What Year To Get Some Places It Shows 65&66 And Then 67 Up Please Let Me Know Thanks
I'm pretty sure two of those pieces pictured hold the ball stud securely, so I doubt it. If there is any movement in that stud, you will have very sloppy steering. The ultimate goal of that kit is to remove the hydraulic system from the control valve and secure the stud that links it to the pitman arm. $65 is a pretty cheap conversion.
On my thread where I put the two links, the top link goes to a $65 kit ($64.95 actually, if you want to get picky ) and the bottom link goes to the $165 kit.
