There are a total of 3 pictures I will post. The first is the upper control arm in the jig that I built to help determine mounting position and coil over shock location. The second and third is the upper control arm and jig clamped on the car. It looks like from full up to full down travel I have about 14 degrees of camber change, with most of it being from normal ride height to full suspension up travel(as in a wheelstand). I am trying to determine if I can change this with relocating the mounting position and lengthening or shortening the rod ends on the control arm. Still working on getting all of my pictures on my web page. I will post the address when I do. I am going with the measurement of 3 1/2 inches from the top of the lower control arm to the bottom of the frame rail as normal ride height. Can any one with a V-8 car tell me what theirs measures? You can just reach under the car with a ruler and eyeball it. Thanks ahead of time!

    upper ball joint

For those of you that haven't been following, the upper ball joint is for a 1980 Chrysler Volare. It is in a steel sleeve supplied by Speedway motors and welded in at a 13 degee angle, in a upper control arm from Howe Racing. The Chrysler ball joint has the same taper (1 1/2 inch per foot) as the Granada spindle I am using. However you do have to ream the spindles out just a small amount with a tapered reamer because Chrysler sets them down a little further in the spindle than Ford does. The reamers are common, I borrowed one from a local machine shop and did it with a half inch air drill in about 1 minute. The sleeve was $4.00 and the control arm was $29.00. The rod ends are heavy duty chromemoly units from QA1, they were $26.95 each. Now to make the real mounting tabs out of 1/4 inch plate.

    Upper control arms

Sorry I haven't posted lately, I bought a super gas car and have been busy with that. I just bought a new house and am building a 50 X 50 garage and the mav is my first project. I will try to get one of the front suspension as it is now.
