Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
ok to set things straight.. well sort of. :hmmm:

this is in regard to this post

    http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=12251&highlight=fiberglass+hood

i weighted the hoods. this is what i got

i have a 1975 hood (not that the year matters.. but just incase anyone here is anal :smash: ) it weighed 39 lbs

i weighted my fiberglass one (not it’s a 3 inch cowl hood from us.body - btw its crap i had to fix it.. now its ok.) it was 26 lbs. i'm sure the regular stock replacement hood would weight a bit less because the cowl has an extra support and does have a bit more fiberglass because of the cowl.

if anyone is asking about my carbon one… sorry haven’t had the time to pull it off the car and weight it… but i’d say about only a 2 to 3 lbs difference lighter. but the point is on that one its stronger and you don’t need to fix it to fit!

anways so between the hoods it’s a 13 pounds difference (y) . 13 lbs is 13 pounds… when you ad things up like a taking off a 1973 bumber mount which weights 15 lbs it ads up!

but to answer if a grabber hood weight less then 26 pounds.. i'd like to see it to believe it.

hope this worked for the enquiring minds

Thanks Derrick! the info is much appreciated and it's nice to see some numbers rather than just speculation for a change.

I never weighed it, but my steel grabber hood seemed heavier than a flat hood.
Definately NOT lighter. The same if anything.
