Wish me luck

Heading to the drag strip tonight with the Mav. Since the last time I was out I've installed my MSD 6AL, new(rebuilt)Ford distributor, and gone to 3.40 gears from 3.0. Still have the peg legger but I'll have to try not to spin the tire too bad. After the big smokey burnout of course.

Good Luck, Matt. Those 3.40s should do quite well...

Um, well, didn't exactly have a successful night. I blew something up on my first run. The car launched awesome and felt great, then BOOM! Fortunately it was the fire extinguisher and not the motor or tranny! It came loose from its home and hit the floor where it raises up in front of the back seat and completely discharged inside the car, with the windows up. I spent probably an hour cleaning up the inside of the car so it would be tolerable on the way home, and by the time I was done the staging lanes were packed, so I said 'screw it' and just watched the racing the rest of the night. Enjoy the video..

Up In Smoke
The 'fallout'

FYI - if you are using Internet Explorer you will have to save the videos to your hard drive then launch them with Media Player. Firefox does not have a problem with my server.

My previous times have not been very good (15.6 best) considering what the new motor should be capable of, and I was hoping to see some improvement with the MSD ignition and the new gears. I've kinda figured out the tranny enough that it should not be slowing me down anymore, it does not (well, has not yet) flare on the shift into third at full throttle at high RPM.

Sorry I meant to add that -- I was laughing about this last night. Once it was over and I knew what happened, I thought it was funny as heck! Honest, you can ask the people I went to the track with. It's just a typical example of the kind of stuff that happens to me.

I just wish someone had taken their shop vac to the track so I could have cleaned it up better, instead of having to use wet paper towels, now i've got that residue all over the place, I will be lucky to ever get it all out.

Call a fire restoration company and ask them how they would clean it up. I have a friend that had a garage fire that caused a fire extinguisher to blow up. His wifes car was directly across from the extinguisher with the windows down. The company cleaned up the car and you can't tell it. He wasn't home when they cleaned it up so I can't tell you what they did.

Matt I feel for ya and I'm glad you and the car are okay...but you got to admit that's a hoot.. I can just picture it...I told the wife and kids and they about fell out laughing
Your situation with the pegleg is like mine was. The more work I did to to get more power to the rear wheels the more frustrated I'd get because it wouldn't hook-up.
