    More Pictures

Well I wanna drop a 302 in it if I can ever find one. I got more pics, here take a look. Just to update the driver's side floor pan is completely out now, is is the front seat and back seat. I need advice on cleaning up the floor boards, before I attempt putting in new floor pans. I'm looking into getting Mustang Bucket seats and then a new carpet job. I've never sandblasted anything before. So, if you could explain how it's done, and what all has to come out before I do it?

Looks like the torque boxes are shot. (Do a search for more info).

Ok, I'll search, I have no idea what a torque box is. Is this car worthy of putting back together for my son? What should I be doing first? It'll be another month and a half before I can do any real work on it. So, I'm gathering materials for the project in the mean time.

I just searched in here for both Torque box and cowl repair and came up with nothing. I was actually thinking of getting and aftermarket hood for the car and getting rid of the one in the pictures. It has rust in the front, and I don't know if thats fixable or not.

If you REALLY want my opinion.....post more pictures. Especially of the rust in the rear quarters. Shoot a picture of the leaf springs where they attach to the rear of the car. Shoot a picture of any of the major rust holes.

Thats what we get in the salt belt. Everything I saw so far was how my 70 was to .Its all fixable depending on your skill level, check book ,and patience.Definetly pull the heater box down and plastic vent on driver side check the cowl holes .Also rear frame rails were leafs bolt to.Good luck with it. Hi ... justed popped over here from your other thread .. Unless you have some serious sentimental attachment to this car ... I'm not sure if it is worth saving. There doesn't appear to be a single peice of metal ... including the cowls and floor that don't need to be replaced .... Of course that's my opinion ... I've seen rougher Mustangs restored ... not sure if I've ever seen a Maverick that rough restored though ... Good Luck and take the several thousands you'll be spending to replace all that metal and get a rust free car ...

    Sentimental

My son is more attached to it then I am, I come n a close second. I willing to do it if he's going to appreciate it and learn something in the process. If I could find another decent Maverick around here I'd buy one, but that hasn't been an option for the past 6 years, because I'm pretty much it for the Maverick population in my area, you just don't see them. Heck, if I knew that parting this car out could raise money towards another one, I'd do that. But, I don't want to if I don't have to. I don't want to just hand my son over a car that's ready to go, I want him to appreciate it seeing it's transformation into a cool car.

I hear yah ... I'm from NY myself so I know how stuff rots out ...

It's gonna take lots of motivation and determination ... among other things ... to get that car back in nice shape. Hate to tell yah ... but I don't think you would make much parting it out either :( ... Mirrors and Spoiler if in good sahpe should would get you $200 ... If the black grill and center medalion are as nice as they look they'd get you another $100 or more ....
