Depends on the ending price...looks like a nice setup if you're not running too much hp for it. I'd have a hard time spending over about $250 for it with shipping but I'm betting he wants more than that.

I have to agree on the local if you have problems! Even if clutches are tight or the rear needs a little tweaking,,your deal went sour on "mail order"

Also on the 9 in. rear yokes will vary enough to have driveshaft recut. If local builder, he will see your yoke and all else and make sure it is right.

That's way expensive for an 8" chunk!
Right now it's up to $560 and shows over $42 shipping to me.
That's $602 for a mediocre rear end, and the auction isn't even over! :tsk:

stand with your back towards a bathroom mirror

hold a hand held mirror in front of you.. slightly higher than your head and look into it, which in turn reflects into the bathroom mirror, and now you can see your rear end..

sorry.. i had to do it... all the wise cracks you have made in the past.. lol

i got the center section completed...and tried to remove the axles, but couldnt get the drivers axle to come out.. i am taking it to a shop tomorrow at noon, they are going to remove the axles, replace the bearings, and then when i get it back friday, i am swapping out the center section friday night./ saturday morning

then break it in sat morning, on the way to the drag strip and then run it saturday on opening day at the track

hopefully i will have a new best time, but im not sure how it will run, since i dont have new tires on the back yet... same old donuts, but on wider rims, and i have the mini spool in it now.. so i should gain a little bit out of it with both tires biting

it will be fun no matter what it runs... i did go from a 2.79 open to a 4.11 mini spool... best time was 14.220 at 96.96.. im guessing it runs about 13.5 - 13.8 with a lousy 60' time

i say go for it, if you have the cash.. or you can build your own, like i did..

i spent 275 bucks on the new gears and the installation kit, and i got a free guage to check the backlash on it.. and then i paid 50 bucks to get all the bearings removed and replaced

Yea Simon I should build it myself... But i'm lazy in my old age and I can find so many other easy things to do with my time, lol. I bet I will be a cheapskate as usual and try to do it myself, if I can find the time.
I'm glad you can share a sence of humor, unlike some people.

Hey Ratio, I agree that it's expensive, but you say mediocre...why?

not the rear end i would choose at this time, but i didn't think it was that bad in price. sure you can find one for less if you look for a while. but currie seels the traction lok new for $400. i'm sure the gears are about $150 and set up and all the other parts. dosen't seem to unreasonable to me. course as cheap as i am i would look for a bargain.:yup:

Ok, so I have an 8" with 3.00. I want quickness, at both wheels, under hard acceleration. I guess I want traction lock with 4.11? I guess I need someone to spell it out for me  . I don't know what exactly to buy if I do it myself...I would hate to buy something with the incorrect spline count or something of that nature. Speaking of which, I don't know that info anyway  . AHHHHH!!
