Friday my little 302 took a dump. Not sure why or what yet. now its time to build a 347 stroker. I found a site that sells stroker kits for under 750. I need a little advice and input on planning this build. I'ld like to keep it on pump gas and not spend alot of money on needless stuff. I know a few of you have already done the stroker motor so I'm all ears and ready for your suggestions.

post a link to the kit. You get what you pay for. Get a quality kit. Several local guys run them in their daily drivers around here and we only have crappy 91.

I wouldn't buy anything from TMD. Get a quality kit from Coast High/Probe or Scat. Even Eagle isn't too bad but often their cranks and rods need some massaging before you can use them. Try Fordstrokers.com.

Jim at FordStrokers.com is a great guy and was the best place to buy stroker kits and parts, but he no longer does that. He only deals in complete engines.

Unless you are dead set on going with a 347 save your money and just bore it .030 over and get good heads ,cam and induction and you will have a screamer anyhow.

And like mentioned above get quality parts or you will regret it, Fordstrokers did have great kit prices but no longer sells them but you can get a shortblock from them for a $1,900 but you still have to assembly it, I know that sounds like a lot of money but by the time you get all the parts and machine work done on your block you will be deep into this price.

Scat has some kits at a similar price, i would go with them over TMD.

:thumbs2: Thanx for the info on Scats, I found a rotating as. for around 900. And yes I've kinda got my heart set on a 347 maybe a 331. I would love to be able to run in the 11's and I think 347 can prob. get me there. I was looking at edelbrock heads from jegs to go with it. part #350-60229. They seem to be decent for the price? And what would be a good cam to go with it? I'll be driving it alot

Good point about the machine work. The last 347 I did I had over $600 in block machining. That included oven degreasing, magnaflux, main bearing bore checked, cylinder boring, decks trued, cam bearings and plugs installed, hot tank. I clearanced the cylinders for the rod bolts myself.

The Edelbrock heads are middle of the road. I run 'em on my 302 but for a stroker you would need to do some work on them. My last 347 had AFR185s. They cost $300 more than the Eddies but they're worth it. For a cam, think of your 347 as a 351, not a 302. Get a cam that has timing events for a 351 which is basically a stroked 302, just like a 347 is. If you're gonna run a roller cam many like the Comp XE274HR in a stroker.

Throwing this out for yea/nay: Why not just buy one of the "Blueprint" engines that Summit and Jegs carry? The "undressed" version is about $3500 out the door. Ready to install, just add carb, water pump, and dist. Already assembled, balanced, the whole nine yards, about what a quality 347 stroker would cost you to build including the machine work, balancing, etc. Just throwing this out for discussion.....

I see your local................ Have you got in touch with standard machine shop? There a very reputable machine shop around here specializing in fords.

Also Theres a guy on one of the local mustang boards that is selling some 347 parts, let me send him a PM and see if I can get his info for you.
