no I haven't contacted any shops around here yet. I don't know any. But I would like to talk with a good ford guy and start checking into options. I haven't ruled out summit. There is a comp. in az advertising with a war. But he's using parts I don't want to deal with(procomp heads) prices at 3200 for complete motor, maybe a little more than that.
Where did you find you 185 heads for 300 more at?

I have heard of the company you speak and from what I hear RUN away don't walk. Bad people to do business with, and also stay as far away from AMP as you can too. Lots of good talk about AZ dyno, PSR, and Standard machine shop. I'm dropping off some more stuff with standard this week (set of gt40P heads for my mustang). And dealt with AZ dyno a couple of times as well there good guys. PSR some of my friends have used and give them great reviews but I personally have never used them. From what I here they are the best in valley concerning mod motors but for a pushrod engine go see AZ dyno for your tuning purposes. AZ dyno also uses standard machine shop for all there work, not sure PSR may be in house but don't qoute me on that. They may just do assembly in house and machine work out sourced.

And as always never heard ANYTHING bad about fordstrokers, only wait times seem to be rising with good business.

Anyways heres what a local guy has, I didn't grab his number yet but If your interested I will get his number for you.

If you piece it togethor be warned that the ring kits for a 347 can be pricey, not a standard ring size combination but there are kits out there for them. Last time I blew my 347 I needed some rings in a hurry and drove up to Total Seal and they only had them in Ductile Moly, cost me about $250 but there's cheaper sets out there. I honestly got more bang for the buck with the head, I run Trick Flow. I wont be building anohter again, too much money spent per horsepower gain. By the time you buy a kit, then get everything balanced, they come pretty rough, notched and typical short block machine work, you will have about a grand in the shortblock. I used a Coast High kit and twice I spun rod bearing 1 and 5 one time ruining the rods and pistons. I am convinced the crank had an oiling issue but the shop I used didnt see anthing wrong.

Your best bet is to buy somebody elses shortblock and let them lose their ass on it and just freshen up the bearings and rings if they need it. Not worth the money to build one new IMO. Put your money into a nice trans and rear end and just get some nice heads.

Ryan, what kind of hp where you getting out of your 347? I've had some rough luck over the years with the 302.(usually rod bearings) and I don't know what happend to this one yet, I haven't been in town all week. It was a strong motor, just not enough power.

Not sure what kind of numbers it was putting out but I know for sure I felt a bigger difference when I put the heads on than when I put in the stroker. Now I run a stock bottom end 5.0 motor and I don't really feel much of a loss. But havent been to the track with it to see what it really lost. Still have same cam and heads etc was running on stroker. Just for how much it cost to build the first time and how much to rebuils each time it want worth it. Would rather put the money into suspension or something else since I already have a nine inch. You might be better off putting the stroker money into a better rear, trans., or suspension. If its a full on drag car then go for the stroker I guess, but for street car there are better things to spend your money on if money is limited.

Mmmm. I think you've made a good point. It is gonna cost alot of money. I know I want more power, alot more. I like the looks of your car Ryan, VERY NICE:thumbs2:. I'm slowly headed in the same direction with mine. Money is the hardest part for now, so I do appreciate all the input from everyone here. :Handshake

For the the amoutn of money to build a stroker motor and all theother stuff ot go with it you could probably get your car repainted, same color of course, with the black strip, black GT scoop, and a 70 Mustang boss style spoiler painted black. That would look nice, and keep the dog dish caps.

Well I opened up the top end yesterday and thought I was gonna S%$@!
#2 piston shattered in two pieces and alot of frags, #4 is pitted and ready to go. Looks like the rod came apart on #2 and destoyed the block and crank. I gonna go to the bone yard on my next day off and hopefully find a diamond:yahoo:
