Shawn sent an email out to a bunch of us from a guy (Grant) that wants to import a Maverick into Australia. I emailed him just to get some information. He sent me this picture. Note the right hand steering. The Mav dont belong to him but the Falcon in the background does. Grant said Falcons are very common to Australia but he's only seen the one Maverick.
Went to the Woodward Ave. Dream Cruise last year, and there was an Orange Aussy Falcon there, a 351GT. Car was very strong, and very nice. Gonna go again in August. Anyone else going to be there? Maybe get together. Later, Earl
That's what I was saying Tom.......very curious....and cool. The Jesse James of the Maverick world needs to do that mod.
I've been racking my brain to figure out why some one would do that other than "cool look at that" factor. It hit me last night, if you were sitting in the passangers side the wiper only clears 3/4 of the glass unless it's switched. Sooooo maybe the factory did do that?
Tom, you're right. But look about midway along the cowl close to the winshield. I see a bump, like maybe the original location for the righthand wiper? If that's what it is, I can't understand why it's still there if the wiper was relocated. Even if somebody went to the trouble to make the conversion you'd think they'd have removed it also. Since the wipers are opposite, does that mean there's a seperate motor for each one? I wonder how they found room for it and if they sync up somehow. Sam
I'm sure that a right hand drive conversion was done, and the wiper was done at the same time. There are companies that do this, and surely they don't give a rat's patoot about a plug where the old hole is.
I am pretty sure that none of these right hand drive Mavcom's were made at the factory....they would all be conversions. The heater box would be relocated to the left side, so maybe the wiper motor was moved to the left side to make room???
