Some beautiful plaid

There's a 17000 mile Maverick on eBay and the interior looks showroom new. I love the plaid.

 

That car is a true time capsule. I saved all the pics.

My 1977 Comet looks very similar, only in blue. Reminds me of the Bay City Rollers...

Defines pristine, except for the decal on the applique. Excellent decision not to molest it; could use a few more photographs, though.

 

I'd drive that one with my nose up in the air.

 

It is very pretty, I've never seen one that color. If you look at the underside of the hood, that's the correct hood for 1970.
I don't know if it's been painted or not, but the fender bolts should be unpainted, since the fenders were painted off the cars, and bolted on later, it's hard to tell, but it looks like there is body color paint on the inner fenders.
The pictures that I have seen from St.Thomas, show the cars coming down the line without fenders and hoods, they were on a separate rack that traveled with the car...

 

Speaking of paint, were engine compartments typically painted black or the same color as the car itself. I'm thinking the latter.

 

The earlier cars had Black engine compartments, up until 1973, depending on the assembly plant.

 

The hood hinges look to have over spray on them, is that normal for factory?

Not necessarily. My 1970 Grabber I had was all original when I bought it. The car was painted assembled at the factory.

My 1974 all original paint LDO car was also painted assembled. Yes.....the hood hinges were body color.

I got my Maverick when it had 6000 miles on it. The fender bolts were body colored. My car even had the original Uniroyals....so does the one on eBay. I bet they're original. I noticed the spare has had a hubcap on it.
