I have a friend that has 255/55/17 on the rear of his truck that is lowed and it looks great they fill up the wheel wells realy nice. 255/55HR17 sect width 10.8" - tread width 8.7" - Diam 28" Would this size work on a maverick and look right??
chech this out......goosd conversation and Maverick Man surely answers your question somewhere in there http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=12720
dang! thanks now i dont even need to answer questions anymore! your the man ditto! it probaly would fit but would look really bad... remember with 17 or 18 rims you'll get a way differant effect. gaps will look wider and the might even need to be lowered. i remember talking with the old producer of HOT ROD TV and we were looking standing around looking at my car and I asked him, what wrong with it? it looks funny? we came to the conclusion that with larger rims it crates another look for the car and almost makes it look like the cars got more of a gap even though it doesn't... i know it sounds crazy but when you see it you'll know what i mean. those 55s are for a truck... and of course thats why they are on a truck now get a 255/45-17 is the way to go. now all you have to do is find someone who makes it at a cheap price 245/45 are going to be easier to find though.
I have 255/45/17. I'm thinking about going to a 255/45/18 or a 255/40/18 on a 18x9 rim. I not to happy with the 17x9 with 255/45/17.
Personelly I dont thank I like any wheels bigger than 15" On older cars. With very few exceptions, I have yet to see any that I thanked looked good. JMO
I thank they look funny if there is not any dish off set to the wheels, Like the newer mustang wheels they look good on the newer mustangs but wouldn't on a older mustang or maverick JMO. The style wheel has to fit the style and look of the car and the stance the car has. TORQUE THRUST 2'S I think look good no mather what size they are as long as they have the right dish off set. Everone is to there own liking thats what makes it fun it would be boring if we all like the same
I like the 17-inch billet aluminum Magnums and think they'd look awesome on a Maverick. They would work well with 225/45-17 on the front and 235/45-17 on the back, but what I like and what I can afford are two different things, and since they are $360 each, I'm just gonna go with the 15-inch chrome steel Magnums and 60-series tires instead...
you guys sound like my father. get with the times my famous quote to my father... "dad its the year 2004 / 2005 you know, it's not the 1960's anymore get with it!" i know its your perosnal opinion but sorry i coundn't resist! and you can't get mad at me cuz i have cars with 15s and 14s on them too so its what works
