According to my Chilton Manual all Mavericks used 161 bulbs for the side marker lights. The dash however, had 194 bulbs. The 194 bulbs are about 3.8 Watts and two candle power compared to 2.66 Watts and one candle power for the 161. I wonder why they would bother with two different bulbs. It seems the 194 bulbs would have sufficed in both cases. Both are the wedge type mount. Was there some sort of limit on the amount of candlepower a side marker could have back then? Thanks for your thoughts.

The 161 exists for enclosed spaces(quadrant, vanity etc), supposedly won't be hot enough to melt/discolor plastic.

No idea on side marker use, probably mostly replaced with #194. My Cobra & Fairlane spec 194.
