I forgot about the stampping, is the stamp for sure in the front of the block ? I have seen pictures of SCJ blocks with the stamp, but i thought it looked like they were stamped on the blocks rear bottom ears.

It has been many, many years ago, but I am pretty sure the SUPER was stamped on the face of the block in the front, at least the ones I have seen, and once again.............not all blocks were stamped in exactly the same place because it was done by hand...............................Got to Love Fords!

Do you have a picture of this "SUPER" stamping? because my January built Dearborn 428 SCJ doesn't appear to have one.
I have all of the correct SCJ components, the hatchet (additional crankshaft balancer) is visible on the front of the engines.

I don't have a picture but you may find one on the net somewhere.
Also, I think............again it's been a lot of years ago...............that I saw one block that was stamped with SUPER all in upper case letters along the pan rail just below the date stamp, I think it was in the vicinity of the oil pump along the rail............................also, did you have a tag just under the coil?
Is the engine apart of still all together, because most SCJ's that I've seen with factory cast pistons also had SUPER on the pin boss of the piston.
It's just been a long time and a lot of brain cells have been destroyed by various things.............................

Thanks rodder, that stamp will be the first thing i hunt for when i get to see the car , honestly, i hope i dont find it, mom never said to me that the car was a SCJ, she only said it was a 428. My brother seems to think she might not have known, i find that HIGHLY unlikely. Time will tell, we should all know this spring.

    Krelboyne,

I know for a fact i seen a pic of it in an artical on the net, give me a bit and i'll find the site for you.

See if this works, hey rodder --- look at the pic close, it sure looks to me (at least in this pic ) that the stamp is on the bottom , kinda like oil pan gasket area.

Yep, that looks kind of like one of the SCJ's I've seen. The others had the same type of stamp on the block side, not the pan side.
    SUPER is super...................................
