Hey All, Im doing a Maverick restomod and I'm very confused about all the bolt in coil over rear suspensions. I could really use some help in choosing one. Some look so complicated and others look too cheap. Im not a burnout guy or drag or road racer. Im using a 9 inch open rear. I do want adjustable shocks and ride height though. I'll be putting on disc brakes too. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
If all you're concerned with is adding adjustable shocks you could just relocate where the tops of the shocks mount. Get rid of the mounts that are just attached to sheet metal, weld a round tube between the "frame rails" (better yet, through the frame rails), and weld shock mounting tabs to that.
Thnaks but I want to add a full 3 or 4 link setup that attaches to a 9 inch rear. I have scrapped the entire driveline 6 cyl stuff. They make so many for Mustangs, Falcons and Fairlanes but dont say what fits Mavericks.
I don't think there is much that "fits" a Maverick aside from this from RRS torque arm setup. https://www.rrs-usa.com/trans-am-3-link.html
You either have to make your own or order it from Art Morrison, Checkered Past or Chris Alston and make it fit.

I'm a fan of torque arms in upgrade/retrofit situations. They don't bind like a triangulated 4 link can at the extremes of suspension travel. That's why they're a common upgrade for Fox Bodies. A 3 link with proper geometry can intrude severely into the rear seat area. The S197 Mustangs ran a 3 link. It was better than the SN95 4 link, but still suboptimal. Torque arms can be retrofitted to almost any older car with attention to make sure the crossmember leaves enough room for exhaust. In that respect they're significantly better than a truck arm setup like the ones made by Hot Rods to Hell. The selling point on truck arms was that stock cars ran them, therefore supposedly they're a performance suspension. Thing is, no race car anywhere runs truck arms unless the sanctioning body makes them do it.
Speedway has some universal 4 link kits. I'd think if you can fab and weld at all would work pretty well. They use similar kits for air ride.
