1970 maverick heating system

    still working on a 1970 maverick with the 200 inline six engine. Just replaced the heater core and installed new heater hose an noticed there is no vacuum operated shut off valve in the heater hose line. Can anyone verify if that is correct?? Does hot coolant run thru the heater core all the time with no way to shut the flow off when heat is not needed in the car?? any help would be appreciated--

    My 70 was like that hoses went directly from engine to heater core , nothing in between, worked just fine

    1972 Maverick Grabber - Color: Orange Also, 1976 Ford Maverick 4-door, 1977 Mercury Comet 2-door.
    Only AC cars had the heater shut off valve.
