I went ahead and bit the bullet and ordered the 5447's. We will see how it goes. It has some old air shocks on it now.

I had to use some parts off the originals I believe but even if you don’t have it it is pretty easy to make.

Here is the tech article on the Nissan shocks. They have a longer free travel range than mav shocks but otherwise seem fine. There are a lot more options available for these trucks, because they were newer vehicles when the tech for shocks evolved.

If you look at the second page, someone found a universal Dorman shock bolt kit. Can't vouch for it, but looks like it is an easy solution. I pieced hardware together at Ace and that went well.

Just an update: parts are still coming in. Center link showed up today. Spring insulators are supposed to arrive today. Still waiting on my spring perches but should be here soon. Hoping to get it all installed next week.

Well when I got home from work, I got to work.
    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]
After a couple hours, I had most of it stripped out. The spring gave me hell till I remembered to take the plate off. Still, the spring compressor didnt get all the tension off but enough for me to unbolt the control arm and finagle it out. The adjustment bolt gave me a little trouble also. Once I was able to break it loose and get the cam off, the cam itself has alot of play and the threads are a little jacked up. Will be ordering asap. Other than that, it went fairly easily for never doing it before.
I wish I had the space, tools, time, and money to clean it down and paint it as I go so it would look fairly nice once it's back together.
I'll break down the other side tomorrow, take the steering components off and start working in reverse depending on how long it takes to get the adjustment bolts in. That's gonna hold me up. Oh and still waiting on the spring perches as well.

Back at it again this afternoon, had to spend some time with the wife this morning....

The old and new strut bushings...kinda threw me off trying to get the old ones off but thankfully nothing a couple pry bars couldn't handle.

New cam bolts came in for the lower control arms.

Roller perches came in the same time as the cam bolts. Definitely spin freely.

This was the only way I could get the new spring to compress, have to say I was a little nervous doing it this way but it worked.

    New end link bushings installed.

New shock installed. The other side should go quicker now that I've done one side. I have my center link and tie rods all put together and measured out as close as I could get them so the adjustment is close. Will break out the tape measure once done. Not going to install the brakes until it's all completely installed.

Did you put new spring insulator/isolater at the top of the coil? Hopefully, you did. Otherwise, looks good.

Make sure not to tighten everything until it is off the stand and on the ground. That way nothing binds and it sits ok.
