    Hi everybody,
This is my first post !!!
I have an interesting information. I just received a Marti report for the production of the 1971 Comet GT : 13,677 units. Hope this is useful for the site.

Congrats on your GT. New purchase?

Let me know if you would like yours added to the 1971-1975 Comet GT Registry.

    Thanks

I appreciate that. If you have it, can you give the door data tag info
in your door jamb or from the Marti Report. This would give color and int. codes as well as DSO info. I take pics as well.

Interesting note: I have 43 cars now in the registry. Of those 43 Comet GT's, only 1 has a 6 cyl. VIN. Almost all V8's.
I have never seen stats from Marti on how many GT's had V8's. They are probably useless numbers anyway since he doesn't have stats for '74 and '75.

    Thanks,

    Seth

Those reports have some interesting facts. Of the 13,677, my 71 GT is one of only 764 because of it being blue with blue interior.

    On the tag, we have:
    Serial number: 1K31F571952
    Body: 62B
    Color: 3
    Trim: 8A
    Axle: 3
    Trans: W
    DSO: 32

    Dealer# 32A066 Schenke Lincoln-Mercury Cincinnati Ohio

It is 1 of 751 with these paint/trim
Unfortunaly, Marti have not specified how many cars with 6 or with 8 cyl

I would have thought red with a black interior would have been pretty common. I wonder what the common color was??

Yes Stephan, I import the car from Toledo, Ohio. I had send you an email 3 or 4 weeks ago. I don't know if I can go to show this year because I have to restore many thigs before but if it is ready in time, sure I will go.

I think that yellow and blue were very popular.

    Me too...

    Ext. paint:

    Bright Red: 11
    Med. Brown met.: 3
    Light Gold: 1
    Grabber Lime: 2
    Gold: 1
    Grabber Blue: 3
    White: 3
    Light Blue(3B): 1
    Orange(5W): 4
    Black: 1
    Bright Blue Metallic: 1
    Light Yellow Gold: 1
    Medium Lime Poly: 1
    Gold Glow: 1
    Dark Yellow/Green Met.: 1
    Yellow: 2
    Lime/Grabber Green: 1

That is out of 38 that I have who gave the door data tag info. Bright Red (Code "3" in 1971 and "2B" from 1972-1974) is the leading color in the registry and in my experience is more common. Black int is common as well. There are still some people even here on the board who have never given me their VIN and info. For Ex. Stephen Moore-Grabber Blue '74 GT.
