Wow, I've never seen leaf springs with an arch like that.

 

I don't believe those springs will settle four inches. If they did I wud be leary of their quality. Are those customer special order?

 

Something clearly isn't right.

Are the shackles tight? I have always left them loose until the car is at ride height. Actually, that goes for all the suspension bolts.

I have ordered springs from Espo, got four leaf, but with a built in 2" drop. They are willing to build to order.

 

That is who I ordered these springs from. I called and they verified that they are supposedly the correct springs.

I do leave everything loose until I put the car on the ground and cycle the suspension.

I decided to leave them on till I get it back in garage. I will then switch them out with calvert racing springs. They are a new style that is not on the website. They are tappered for a smoother ride. They look nice and compared to the original springs they will ride at the same height or a hair lower.

 

I had the same problem with a set of 4 leafs that I had purchased from ESPO back in 2002 when I put my Sprint together. I bought lowering blocks and had them de arched locally, but never could get them right. Finally junked them. Bought a set from JC Whitney. They were perfect ride height, but had the wrong size eyelet in the back. I haven't had much luck with springs.

 

I have 4-leaf ESPO springs on my car. Gives it a nice rake.

Mine measures at 31 3/4 inches. My tire diameter is 25.68 inches. That leaves more than a 6 inch gap.

 

There's something wrong with those springs, and they won't settle to a reasonable height.

 

I thought I would give everyone an update. The painter did not get the paint completed by the 18th like he said he would. He has left the country to get married and is planning on staying. He has arranged to come back the first of September to finish the car. I have put my faith in his return. His work is top notch but he is not the fastest. I would rather have it done right and it take a little longer than fast and have it sub par.

 

I figured I would show you the pictures of were it stands until the first of September.

The Doors jams have been painted, the hood hinges have been painted and assembled, the inner fenders have been painted as well as all the hidden areas, the doors and the fenders have been hung.

 

Not the first car stuck in paint purgatory, and surely won't be the last. Looks great though. I hope he comes home and follows through for you.

 

Looks amazing! I like how he finished the underside of the fenders, it's going to be a beautiful car.
