Is that body work on bare metal??? Cringe.

 

It is epoxy primered.

 

Thank god.... some people do know how to do it correctly.

Parts were primed yesterday and are looking good. Here are a few pics of them.

Exactly like Chip Foose. I would put my entire years salary as a bet that he doesn't do that on the cars that he builds through his business. A car they are doing for free, Yup. But a car he is charging upwards of a half million or more to build? Nope.

But on TV where time is of the essence and not quality, sure thing. Slather it right on to bare steel and wait for the rust to start down the road. It is not a question of if, it is a matter of when.

Body filler will stick sure enough. But it has no corrosion protection at all.

While I like to watch Over Haulin'. It does make me sick to my stomach to watch.

 

Out of curiosity, do you etch your bare metal areas before laying down you primer?

 

Personally, I like epoxy better.

 

I've got to learn these new processes. I haven't done body work since the late 80s/early 90s.

 

Wet sanded, sealed, and painted all the undersides of the hood, trunk and fender jambs.

 

It's looking great....
